These 3 Best Ice Hotels That Will Blow Your Mind

Last updated on : Jun 9, 2020
Ice hotels are incredible feats of engineering that evoke the feeling of being in a winter wonderland. While they may be chilly, due to being built primarily from ice and snow, what they lack for in warmth, they make up for by providing that wow factor and a truly unforgettable experience. Here are 3 of the best ice hotels in the world.
One of the most popular ice hotels is Sweden’s very own Icehotel. Built from frozen water from the Torne River, rooms feature ice-block beds covered in reindeer skins on which guests use expedition-style sleeping bags to stay warm.
This hotel also has heated service buildings for storing belongings, dining, and bathing. During the winter, guests can venture into the wilderness via horseback to observe the Northern Lights.
Another reason this is one of the best ice hotels – food is served on ice-cube plates, which only adds to the ambience.
A new Icehotel 365 has been developed and will be open 365 days a year, with a little help from Mother Nature.
The Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort in Saariselka, Finland, is along the road to the Arctic Sea, surrounded by one of the most pristine settings you’ll find anywhere in the world.
The resort’s accommodations include spectacular snow and glass igloos, the latter built mostly underground, revealing expansive views of the wilderness and starry, night sky.
The resort has a host of activities that you can only experience in an arctic environment, including husky safaris, ice fishing, and icebreaker cruises in the winter.
You can even visit Santa’s home!
Only open from January to March, Quebec City’s Hôtel de Glace is entirely redesigned each year. Guests sleep inside arctic sleeping bags atop ice block beds.
This hotel is a work of art itself, but also contains some of the most amazing crystalline ice sculptures.
Guests can attend a fabulous architecture tour of Hôtel de Glace as well as go to the Ice Workshop to make their very own ice-based cocktail glass.
