2020 has been a crazy year so far, and it’s got a lot of people warily wondering what’s going to happen next. We could all use a vacation, especially this summer, but what’s a person to do for a vacation during the COVID-19 crisis? Turns out there are still ways to have fun and enjoy your vacation, even if we are experiencing a global pandemic.
Stick with Domestic Travel
Chances are that if you planned a trip this year to another country, those plans are put on a somewhat indefinite hold. Instead of going overseas, consider domestic travel as an alternative.
There are some amazing places you can visit, especially if you’re into nature and experiencing the outdoors. As an added bonus, you should be able to maintain plenty of distance from other people if you go this route.
Keep in mind that some states have a mandatory quarantine period for some out-of-state visitors. If you want to actually enjoy your vacation and not spend your entire vacation in quarantine, you may need to factor that into your travel plans, or just plan for your vacation to go a little longer than normal. Wouldn’t that just break your heart?
Try Low-Risk Activities
As far as activities for your summer vacation are concerned, it’s best to stick to low-risk activities. Things that you can do outside with distance between you and others are best, such as hiking, walking, playing tennis, biking, and swimming.
It’s important to keep in mind that while these activities inherently carry a low risk, if conditions become crowded the risk level increases. In that case, it’s best to maintain distance as much as possible and don a mask.
Alternatively, you might try giving virtual experiences a go. Around 150 million people use Airbnb Experiences across the world. Activities include cooking, nature hikes, animal experiences, musical entertainment, and much more. You’ll find that you have access to adventures all over the world right at your fingertips.

Plan a Staycation
Sure, many people have been spending a lot of time at home lately, and maybe you’ve got a case of cabin fever thanks to it. It’s still possible to enjoy your vacation via an amazing staycation.
Chances are that your time at home hasn’t been focused on having fun or much of a staycation experience, so take some vacation time and turn that around.
Visit places around where you live and fall in love with your location all over again. Plan a stay-at-home spa day to pamper yourself. Go camping in your backyard. Try that one activity you’ve been meaning to for ages. Just have some good, intentional fun with it.
