I’ve traveled to many places with my family, and while trying new activities is fun, trying new desserts is even better! Countries have so many things that make them outstanding, but delicious desserts are number one for me. This article is about my best desserts from around the world.
Cheecup
While my family and I were walking around Prague, we stumbled across a place called Cheecup, where we ordered a blueberry cheesecake and a caramel cupcake.
I first tried the blueberry cheesecake, which had a layer of white chocolate in it. It was the most delicious cheesecake I’ve ever had in my life! The caramel cupcake was mind-blowingly good, with the moistest cake and the perfect caramel icing.
These two cakes were among my best desserts ever; so good that my mom forgot to take photos of the desserts. So, if you’re going to Prague, I highly recommend Cheecup.
Ube Ice Cream
In Waikiki, my family found an ice cream shop called IL Gelato Hawaii. I looked at the flavors and saw ube, and its purple color appealed to me, so I thought it might be good. And it sure was! I devoured the ice cream quickly and added it to my list of best desserts.
If you’re wondering what ube is, it is a purple yam put into many foods in Hawaii like ice cream and pancakes, and we tried ube at many places in Hawaii.
Crème de la Crème
My mom heard that Crème de la Crème was rated the best ice cream in Prague, so we just had to try it. The caramel and lavender ice cream flavors were so delectable, and after visiting, I understood why it is ranked number one. It also has a cool cafe where you can chill and eat.
If you’re going to Prague, you should visit one of Crème de la Crème’s many locations, but beware, the lines can be super long, and seating is limited.
Amorino
I’ve been to Amorino at least once during my family’s last two trips to Europe. The first time was in Brussels, Belgium, where we were desperate for gelato, so my dad decided to try Amorino because it had great reviews.
Two things I love about Amorino are their flavor selections, like blueberry cheesecake, and the ability to choose up to three flavors for your cone or cup.
When I first tried their gelato, it was love at first bite, and I was thrilled to find out that they have locations in the US. Now, whenever we travel, we look to see if an Amorino is there.
Croatian Pancakes
When we visited Dubrovnik, Croatia, my parents booked an apartment, which meant we would have to find a place to eat breakfast every day.
One day, we dined at a restaurant down the street from our apartment. I ordered smoked salmon toast because I love salmon, and my mom let me try her pancakes, or palacinke, which are like French crepes. They were marvelous, and I really wished I had ordered the palacinke because I wanted to eat all of my mom’s!
A Spectacular Sorbet
After walking around for a while in Dubrovnik, we were tired from the heat and wanted something to help us cool down, so we visited an ice cream shop called Gianni. My sister ordered lavanda-honey ice cream, and I got a sweet and refreshing mango sorbet.
My mom tried a vegan cake and some of my mango sorbet, and she wanted to come back the next day, which we did. I would never turn down a chance to get ice cream again.
Homemade Greatness Makes the Best Dessert
My sister and I were visiting my grandparents in Tennessee for the summer. As we were finishing our dinner, my grandma went and got some cherries. I wondered what she was going to do with them.
My grandpa got whipped cream, and together, they started cutting the cherries and putting the whipped cream on top of the cherries. They gave my sister and me a bowl, and it was magnificent. Sometimes, homemade is best.
Ah-mazing Crumbs
At a restaurant in Budapest called Tati, my sister, mom, and I shared a dessert made of two cheesecake balls, and it was so awesome. I had never had anything like it.
After finishing the dessert, my sister and I noticed a few crumbs left on the plate, so we asked our mom if we could eat the crumbs, and she said, “yes”. As I tasted those crumbs, I thought to myself that I never knew crumbs could taste so good. That’s just one reason you should go to Tati. The food is superb.
Sorbet Fit For a Princess
Before our dinner at Palace Elisabeth on the island of Hvar, Croatia, I saw the most beautiful view from the terrace of the San Marco restaurant. That’s when I knew that dinner was going to be an amazing experience.
My pasta dinner was as fantastic as the view, but the dessert was even better. The peach and strawberry gelato tasted so fresh, and my dad had a really incredible orange and honey dessert that he couldn’t really put into words.
So, when you come to Hvar, treat yourself to a meal at San Marco restaurant, and if you’re lucky, you’ll get a lesson about the local food and the history of Hvar from Philip, our amazing waiter.
