Rehoboth Beach, Delaware is an Atlantic coastal town with an iconic boardwalk lined with restaurants, shops, hotels, and entertainment venues. It’s a must-visit destination in Delaware and a wonderful place for a family getaway. While summertime is peak season in Rehoboth Beach, visiting in spring and fall are great times to score discounted rates and fewer crowds. Whenever you decide to go, here are 4 awesome things to do in Rehoboth Beach.

Walk the Gordons Pond Trail

Situated between Lewes and Rehoboth Beach, the Gordons Pond Trail is a beautiful park located in Cape Henlopen State Park.

Along the trail, you can see wildlife and birds as well as wonderful views of scenic overlooks, the pond, marshes, and beaches.

There is an elevated boardwalk for part of the trail, and you can walk two miles (about 40 minutes) from the southern part of the trail to the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk.

Wander the boardwalk

The Rehoboth Beach boardwalk is a place you’ll just want to wander around, as it’s filled with many things to do. You can visit shops and restaurants or sit on a bench and people-watch.

I felt like a kid again at Rehoboth Toy & Kite Company and while playing games at Funland, which reminds me of arcades and amusement parks I used to visit as a child. Skeeball and basketball are my go-to arcade games! How about you?

Whenever I walk on an Atlantic coast boardwalk, the 1960s song “Under the Boardwalk” by the Drifters comes into mind! Don’t know why that is, but it’s a song my Dad used to sing when I was a child.

Eat local treats

When visiting the region, trying crab cakes and oysters is a must! Great spots to visit include Claws Seafood House and Henlopen City Oyster House.

While on the boardwalk, you’ll be enticed by endless yummy places to eat like the Funnel Cake Factory, Candy Kitchen, and Mug & Spoon, a coffee and sweets joint that is home to some of the most decadent shakes around.

I found myself gravitating toward several ice cream shops, like Kohr Brothers, home of the ‘original’ frozen custard, and The Ice Cream Store, where you’ll find a bevy of award-winning homemade ice creams like sweet corn ice cream!

Also not to be missed are Dolle’s, home of the best salt water taffy and Thrasher’s, where there’s always a line for their world-famous French fries.

Relax on the beach

The big draw of any coastal town is, of course, the beach. Rehoboth Beach has wide stretches of golden sand, offering abundant places to kick your heels up.

And if you don’t want to bring your own umbrella and chairs, there are several places to rent them on the beach. I did some light reading on the beach and enjoyed feeling the warm, ocean breeze.

In the beach zone, parking is metered, so I highly recommend using a parking app such as Parkmobile, because it allows you to ditch the coins and recharge your time directly from your smartphone.

Plan Your Trip

For accommodations in Rehoboth Beach, it doesn’t get more convenient than this modern oceanfront studio vacation rental on the boardwalk. And one of the best hotels is the Bellmoor Inn and Spa, which is a few blocks from the beach.

If you need some last-minute clothing items or just want to do some shopping, the Tanger Outlets is about 3 miles from the beach.

My trip to Rehoboth Beach was amazing! I consider it a staycation, a vacation you take closer to home, and the total cost was only a few hundred dollars.

So why not start planning your own staycation? There are surely some hidden or not-so-hidden attractions that you haven’t visited near where you live.

For me, the Eastern Seaboard (Eastern US States) has always been very appealing, because it has some really beautiful, old towns that are full of history, and the vibe is so laid back.  That’s why I hope to visit at least one coastal US town every summer.

In fact, I’ve added that to my trip wish list!
