Located between Chile and Bolivia, Hito Cajon border crossing (Portezuelo del Cajon) is a mountain pass just outside the town of San Pedro de Atacama, Chile.
Hito Cajon is a frequent route for those traveling from San Pedro de Atacama to Uyuni, Bolivia. The route involves a stop at the Chilean border station, which sits at approximately 4,500 meters, the Bolivian border station, which sits at the top of the pass, and the ticket office for the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve, which costs 150 bolivianos (~$22 USD), payable only in cash.
