Best Red Sea Resorts in Egypt

When visiting Egypt, travel to the Red Sea is a must. After all, the arid country has hundreds of miles of sandy coastline with stunning vistas along the Red Sea. There are several seaside towns you can choose, and here are the best Red Sea resorts in Egypt.

Hurghada Resort Area

The most popular beach resort town in the Red Sea is Hurghada, which has a population of approximately 60,000 people. The town is well known for scuba diving and nightlife. It has the largest number of hotels in the Egyptian Red Sea resort area.

Just 15 miles (25 km.) north of Hurghada, the Oberoi Beach Resort Sahl Hasheesh is a five-star luxury Red Sea resort with every amenity you could ask for.

Soma Bay Red Sea Resort Area

Located about 30 miles (45 km.) south of Hurghada, Soma Bay is an intimate, self-contained resort community with its own in-house reef and access to diving.

Accessible via a gated entry, Soma Bay has five luxury resorts, an 18-hole championship golf course, and large thalassotherapy center and luxury spas.

Given the resort area has few resorts, the beach never gets crowded, and the beach is arguably the best stretch of sand along the Red Sea. It’s also a great place for windsurfing and kitesurfing.

The Kempinski Soma Bay is a five-star luxury resort with immaculate Arabian-style rooms, each having an ocean view. The hotel also has stunning grounds which include six restaurants, two pools and a wading pond which encircles the pool.

Sharm-el-Sheik

Known for its clear and calm waters and coral reefs, Sharm el-Sheikh is a major diving destination in the Sinai Peninsula. A wonderful spot for diving and snorkeling is Ras Muhammad National Park, which offers access to amazing reefs and the Thistlegorm wreck.

While some parts of Sharm-el-Sheik have pebble beaches, Naama Bay is blessed with sandy beaches and is a hip restaurant and entertainment scene.

Taba

Taba offers a stunning stretch of coastline on the edge of the Egypt-Israel border in the Gulf of Aqaba. It’s a frequent vacation spot for Egyptians and Israelis, and it makes a great place for exploring neighboring countries, given the proximity of Israel, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.

Formerly a Bedouin fishing village in the Sinai Peninsula, the small town of Dahab is one of Egypt’s finest diving destinations. Dahab got its name, because means “gold”, a reflection of the areas golden beaches.

In Dahab, you’ll find fewer luxury resorts, so it’s a great place to book inexpensive accommodations.

However, for luxury accommodations, Le Meridien Dahab offers five spacious sea-view rooms, five swimming pools, a manmade lagoon, a gym, and a luxury spa.

Marsa Alam

Marsa Alam is a resort town on the south coast of the Egyptian Red Sea that is renowned for its sandy beaches and coral reefs. The area is known for its sea turtles and is one of the best snorkeling and kitesurfing spots in Egypt.

Wadi el-Gemal National Park is a must-do for those interested in snorkeling, diving, and water activities. Popular day trips in Marsa Alam include a 4×4 jeep safari or a day trip to Luxor.
