Days Inn by Wyndham is calling all solar eclipse enthusiasts. The hotel brand is offering a Solar Sun-ternship for two adventurous besties to join their team for Solar Eclipse 2024. But this isn’t your average internship. These lucky BFFs will witness the highly-anticipated 2024 solar eclipse from a private helicopter, giving them a one-of-a-kind vantage point of the path of totality.
And the best part? They’ll be capturing their experience through photos and videos to share with Days Inn guests on social media and will each be taking home a $5,000 paycheck for their hard work.
Part of the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts chain, Days Inn is one of the largest hotel franchising companies globally. Launched in 1970 in Tybee Island, Georgia, Days Inn started with a simple model that focused on offering comfortable and value-driven accommodations for travelers. While only two individuals will score the role of Sun-terns, it’s estimated that between one and four million Americans will be traveling to witness Solar Eclipse 2024. Spanning more than 200 miles and crossing through five North American time zones like a celestial ribbon, the path of totality of Solar Eclipse 2024 will pass through major cities like San Antonio, Little Rock, Cleveland, Buffalo, and Montreal.
This rare cosmic phenomenon, set to take place on April 8, is a once-in-a-generation event, with the next total eclipse not expected until 2044. The last total solar eclipse visible across the continental United States occurred in 2017. As anticipation builds for Solar Eclipse 2024, several cities along the path of totality are hosting festivals, educational workshops, and viewing parties, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds and interests.
Responsibilities
Those selected for this opportunity must travel to a Days Inn property selected by the brand from April 7-9, 2024, to document their experience through photo and video content for Days Inn’s social channels. Not only will the Sun-terns be rewarded with a $5,000 cash prize each, but they’ll also receive a professional photography class, a single hotel room for two guests, travel stipends, and a Wyndham Rewards Diamond membership.
How to Land the Gig
Days Inn is looking for a pair of social media-savvy individuals, 18 years or older, with a passion for photography and social media. Applicants must be residents of the U.S. or Canada (excluding Quebec) with valid passports or federal/state-issued IDs, and both applicants must be residents of the same country. It’s also best if applicants are comfortable with heights, as they will view the eclipse from a helicopter.
