Travel is back in full force with major sporting events and emerging tourism destinations increasing in appeal to more travelers. Here are 4 underrated countries to visit now and beyond.
Vietnam
No visit to the country is complete without visiting its cities, both large and small; Ha Long Bay, and the beautiful countryside. Vietnam stole my heart as one of the few places where you can get a taste of the local culture quite easily, even in the larger cities. Â
However, in places like Hanoi, you need to exercise a high degree of caution at street crossings or risk getting run over by scooters.  Speaking of taste, the food is spectacular!Â

Colombia
Once known as the mecca for the drug trade, this country has transformed into a major tourist destination. There is just so much to see and do here, and all of it is steeped in tradition!
Of course, there’s coffee, most of which is exported; but also beautiful beaches; the world’s second-largest carnival; local festivals; incredible street art; diverse musical styles and dances; delicious foods like arepas and sancocho; and even a desert!Â

South Korea
Don’t let all the talk about nukes and missiles scare you away! South Korea is one of the most exciting, underrated countries to visit. The bustling streets of Seoul offer some of the world’s best shopping as well as some of the best street food.Â
In February, the country will host the 2018 Winter Olympics, which makes 2018 the perfect time to “chill” in Seoul. Just make sure to bring lots of warm clothing.
Indonesia
Though Bali has long been on the tourist path, there’s just so much to ‘eat, pray, and love’. You can trek through rice paddies, hike mountains, visit amazing temples, attend spiritual ceremonies and cultural performances, explore beautiful beaches, and sample delicious Balinese cuisine, to name a few.Â
And, the less-visited Lombok and Gili Islands, right off the coast, are worth exploring before mass tourism takes over. Not to be missed is Yogyakarta with its impressive ancient temples.
