I first used Daytrip five years ago to take a one-way solo trip from Riga, Latvia, to Vilnius, Lithuania. I had such a wonderful experience that I began using Daytrip for other trips as well as for clients as part of my travel advisory services. Every time I use Daytrip, I’m excited by the variety of options available for stopovers when traveling between two different cities. Here’s why I continue to use Daytrip’s services and why you should, too.
Flexibility
Daytrip gives you the chance to make the most of traveling between two cities. You can customize your route depending on your group size, schedule, and interests, so you’re able to explore some places that most tourists miss. You can choose the number of hours you want to spend in each stopover location, and the Daytrip website will automatically calculate the price. Keep in mind that activities during a stopover aren’t included in the price, as Daytrip’s services are limited to the drive between the two selected cities. Recently, the company has added the option of day tours that start and end in the same city.
Personalized Service
Daytrip assigns you a local driver, who is knowledgeable about the region and can suggest activities to do during your stopover. My family and I embarked on an early morning journey from Prague to Budapest, taking a comfortable van provided by Daytrip for the six-hour direct route. On our scheduled three-hour stopover in Bratislava, Slovakia, I had pre-arranged a one-hour walking tour of Old Town Bratislava.
A former capital of Hungary from 1526 to 1784, and the city where the Hungarian parliament met until 1848, Bratislava still holds many notable relics from its past. During our tour, we visited Michael’s Gate, Primate’s Palace, and the Gothic Cathedral of St. Martin, where the Habsburg rulers were once crowned kings of Hungary. It was so interesting to learn about the city’s and country’s history as part of the former republic of Czechoslavakia.
After the walking tour, we stopped at a local restaurant, Gatto Matto Panska, and ordered some seriously delicious pizzas and refreshing beverages to cool off from walking around on an extremely hot day! We also did some souvenir shopping and reconvened with our driver back at the drop-off point when we were ready. Daytrip drivers will drop you off and pick you up at the place of your choosing. Once we were done exploring Bratislava, we met up with our driver to continue our journey to Budapest, which took approximately 2.5 hours additionally.

Convenience
One of the major benefits of using Daytrip is that you can save time and visit places that would be nearly impossible to see so effortlessly when compared to traveling by other modes of transportation. With Daytrip, you don’t have to haul around your baggage to catch a train or bus, and there are no lost sightseeing days due to transiting. Of course, you could always rent a car, but the rental costs add up quickly and you’d have to drive, familiarize yourself with the locations you want to visit, and find and pay for ample parking. Plus, our driver knew the best places to stop for bathroom breaks and supplied us with water and transportation that was clean and comfortable!
In the end, breaking up our journeys into blocks of three hours or less makes transiting feel less taxing, and when we arrived in Budapest in the early evening, it felt like we had just completed a day tour instead of a long journey! Daytrip’s door-to-door service is now available in more than 90 countries, making it the perfect choice for all your international road trips.
